M&R Leadership Attends Breakfast Supporting Acacia Network

M&R last month participated in the annual Julio Martinez Fund Breakfast hosted by Acacia Network, a nonprofit dedicated to delivering affordable housing, health and social services to underserved communities across New York City.

M&R partners with Acacia Network at several homeless shelters, including the Brookville Hotel at JFK, Days Inn by Wyndham Jamaica/JFK Airport, Best Western JFK Airport hotel and Airport Grand JFK hotel, to provide safe and stable environments for those in need.

The event, held at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, brought together community leaders, city officials and key partners to support Acacia Network’s vital mission.

Manish Patni, M&R cofounder; Andrew Hickey, general manager of the Brookville Hotel at JFK; and Alan Chan, area general manager, represented M&R and reinforced the company’s support of meaningful initiatives in the communities it serves. The event highlighted the success of these collaborative efforts and showcased the positive outcomes of Acacia’s programs across New York City.

Acacia Network is one of the leading nonprofit human services organizations in New York state, offering integrated services in the areas of primary and behavioral health care, transitional housing, education, workforce development and affordable housing. Its work directly impacts many of the city’s most vulnerable populations.

The event also was a fundraiser commemorating Julio Martínez, a trailblazer in the field of substance abuse treatment. A former drug addict who became a transformative figure in New York’s public health landscape, Martínez founded numerous community-based treatment programs and later served as New York State’s commissioner of substance abuse services under Gov. Mario Cuomo. Martinez championed access to treatment and supportive housing as key parts of long-term recovery.

Acacia Network extended its thanks to M&R and fellow supporters for their continued partnership in helping underserved individuals address housing insecurity and public health challenges across New York City.
