Introducing Stars of the Week: A New Way to Celebrate M&R Talent

M&R has launched Stars of the Week, an employee recognition program created to highlight the exceptional efforts of team members who go above and beyond each day. From standout guest service to behind-the-scenes support, this initiative ensures that every act of dedication and teamwork has the chance to shine.

To take part in the program, team members can nominate colleagues using a flyer with a QR code being distributed and posted in back-of-house areas (click HERE), said Neil Genel, talent acquisition manager, People & Culture team, adding that nominations are open to all M&R associates and should highlight individuals who exemplify M&R’s values, uplift team spirit or consistently go the extra mile in their roles.

In addition to peer nominations, general managers or a designated team member are encouraged to submit any guest compliments, whether from TripAdvisor, internal surveys or guest comment tools, by Thursday at 5 p.m. each week.

Each Friday, the Stars of the Week will be featured on the employee dashboard. Due to space limitations, not every nomination will appear immediately, but all compliments will be recognized in future editions.

“It’s exciting to see the enthusiasm for recognizing the outstanding contributions of our team members,” said Neil. “Stars of the Week is about celebrating the everyday excellence that powers our hotels. Recognition creates pride, builds momentum and strengthens our teams.”

Leadership involvement is essential to the program’s success, he said. Managers are encouraged to promote nominations within their teams and celebrate those selected each week. “Whether it’s a quick team huddle or a personal message, small gestures of appreciation go a long way in reinforcing a culture of recognition,” he said.

As Stars of the Week rolls out, the People & Culture team welcomes feedback and suggestions. “The goal is to make this a meaningful and evolving initiative that reflects what makes M&R’s workplace culture so special by building a stronger, more connected community—one star at a time,” said Neil. “I look forward to building a culture of appreciation and recognition together.”
